Iconic NFT brand Pudgy Penguins has entered into a collaboration with NASCAR, aiming to introduce the collection’s beloved “Pengu” mascot to millions of motorsport fans. This alliance follows a flurry of recent tie-ups for the Ethereum-based project, which has also teamed up with retailers like PEZ, publishers such as Random House, and blockchain games including My Neighbor Alice.
According to Pudgy Penguins’ official announcement on X, the partnership will feature Pengu imagery across select race tracks and broadcast graphics.
“We’re thrilled to bring Pengu to NASCAR’s passionate community,” said Pudgy Penguins CEO Luca Netz. “This collaboration opens the door to a whole new audience who appreciate both digital collectibility and high-speed entertainment.”
From College Startup to Mainstream Brand
First minted in July 2021 by four college students, Cole Villemain, Clayton Patterson, MickyJ, and Jonah, Pudgy Penguins originally debuted as an 8,888-avatar collection. Following a rocky market downturn, entrepreneur Luca Netz acquired the project in April 2022 and set out to transform it into a cross-industry lifestyle brand.
Since then, Pudgy Penguins has inked licensing deals for a toy line with Walmart, conceptualized an arcade experience alongside TouchMagix, and partnered with Random House on an upcoming children’s book. Their companion series, Lil Pudgys (22,222 pieces), extends the IP’s reach with more affordable entry points for collectors.
What to Expect from the NASCAR Collaboration
Details remain under wraps, but promotional visuals released by Pudgy Penguins hint at Pengu Clash logos displayed on trackside billboards and digital overlays during live races. Sources close to the project indicate that NFT holders may gain exclusive access to NASCAR merchandise drops, VIP race-day experiences, and limited-edition digital collectibles tied to marquee events.
“NASCAR’s sponsorship ecosystem is all about giving fans behind-the-scenes perks,” explains sports-marketing expert Maria Lopez. “Integrating NFTs into that mix could create unique value for both communities.”
Market Impact and Next Steps
At press time, Pudgy Penguins command a floor price of roughly 9.26 ETH (around $25,000 USD), while Lil Pudgys trade near 1.14 ETH ($3,100 USD). The NASCAR deal is expected to roll out in phases, starting with digital promotions this summer and scaling up to physical activations during the 2025 racing season.
NASCAR’s embrace of NFTs is part of a broader trend: major sports leagues and teams worldwide are experimenting with blockchain assets to deepen fan engagement and unlock new revenue streams. Pudgy Penguins’ latest alliance underscores how established Web3 brands continue to push into mainstream entertainment.
